Switchback parts: Dyna seats, FLD luggage mounts

The Switchback starts with a removable windscreen, detachable hard bags and rider footboards. Those Road King-like features sit on a Dyna, so choose each accessory by its FLD fitment. A useful example is the passenger backrest: the seat can be shared with other Dynas, but the detachable sideplates are Switchback-specific. Start with the Sundowner seat and FLD sideplates.

Passenger space or a closer reach?

Sundowner 51540-06 gives you a 16-inch rider seat and a 12-inch pillion. Badlander 52284-06 has a slimmer, lower-profile shape, with an 11-inch rider section and a 5-inch pillion. Both are listed for every Switchback year above. For regular two-up use, the pillion width is a better starting point than the seat's appearance. Compare the Sundowner with the Badlander.

If reaching the controls is the problem, Super Reduced Reach 54384-11 is a solo seat. Harley describes a position up to one inch lower and three inches forward; it is worth checking that position against your existing seat before choosing it. A passenger seat is not included. Check docking-kit supply before adding a backrest or rack

Chrome sideplates 52300070A need Switchback docking kit 52300065. The sideplate pack includes the upright screws, but the docking kit, upright and matching passenger pad are separate. Harley UK now lists the docking kit as discontinued and we do not stock it, so confirm its supply before ordering the FLD sideplates.

Custom Tapered Sport rack 50300030A fits the detachable sideplates. Its included fasteners attach it to those plates; they do not replace the plates or the docking kit. Resolve those mounting parts first, and add an upright and matching pad separately if you also want a passenger backrest. Then choose the chrome luggage rack.

Rider footboards: pans and inserts together

Airflow kit 50500436 is a pair of rider footboard pans with vibration-isolated inserts, listed specifically for 2012–2016 FLD. It changes the boards at the rider's feet; it is not a passenger footboard mounting kit. This is one area where a part also fits selected Touring models, but that does not make their seats or luggage mounts interchangeable.
