Deuce parts: keep the model code in the fitment check

The Deuce is a named exception in some older Softail accessory listings, especially seats. A Sundowner or Badlander that fits a Softail Standard can still be wrong for an FXSTD. Start with your Deuce's code and year, then check the individual part. The chrome shift lever, peg and linkage below are all listed for the Deuce, the linkage only on a bike without Softail Extended Reach Forward Controls; the seat warning further down explains two parts to avoid.

Changing the shifter: lever and peg are separate

Chrome billet shift lever 34539-00 comes with its chrome mounting hardware, but without the peg your boot touches. For a chrome-and-rubber finish, Streamliner peg 34967-04 is a separate choice, sold singly. Both are listed for FXSTD 2000–2007 and FXSTDI 2001–2006. Order the billet lever and Streamliner peg separately if you are replacing both; a peg purchase alone does not include a lever.

Check for extended controls before changing the linkage

Round chrome linkage 33814-98A is the rod connecting the shift mechanism to the transmission. Its adjustable ends, transmission lever cover and decorative nuts and bolts come in the kit. Harley excludes bikes with Softail Extended Reach Forward Controls, so check any previous owner's control conversion before ordering. This is a separate cosmetic choice from changing the lever or peg. For a bike retaining the compatible control layout, see the round chrome linkage.

The Softail seats to rule out

Sundowner 51764-06 and Badlander 52292-00A explicitly exclude the Deuce in Harley's fitment wording. The injected FXSTDI listing does not remove that restriction, even if a catalogue association suggests otherwise. The Night Train guide shows where those seats do belong; for the Deuce control options above, return to the billet lever or round linkage.
