Sportster 883 parts: 2003 or 2004 decides most of it

We list the XL883 for 1986, 1987 and 1990 to 2009; our picker files 1988 and 1989 under a separate XLH883 code. The year that matters most is 2004. Of the 417 current genuine parts listed for a 2004 XL883, 73 are new that year, and 14 parts listed for 2003 stop there. Service parts split the same way:

Racks and sissy bars are 2004-on only

Every genuine luggage rack and sissy bar we list for the XL883 is for 2004 or later; there is none for an earlier bike. All except low-profile upright 52300403 mount through H-D Detachables, and Harley says the sideplates 52710-07A need a docking hardware kit bought separately: 53529-04, or 53544-04 if leather saddlebags are fitted.
