Sportster 1200, 1990–2003: check the year before brakes and controls

The plain Sportster 1200 is listed for 1990 to 2003 with 358 current genuine parts. All 358 are also on the Sportster 883 list and 357 on the 1200 Sport's, while the 1200 Custom shares 348. The 2004-on 1200R is another matter: only 342 of its 455 are listed here. Harley lists derby cover 25130-04A, sissy bar upright 51146-10B and solo rack 53512-07A from 2004 onwards, and we list no genuine seat, sissy bar, luggage rack or tyre for this bike.

The brake pads changed for 2000. Up to 1999 the front takes 44063-83D and the rear 44209-87D; from 2000 one kit, 44082-00E, is listed for both ends. Rotors such as chrome front 44360-00A are listed from 2000 only, and we list none for earlier bikes.

Hand controls split at 1996. Lever kits 45075-07 and 44994-07, master-cylinder cover 45078-96D and grips such as Get-A-Grip 56100007 all start that year, and Harley's lever line rules out a hydraulic clutch. For a 1990–1995 bike we list no current genuine grips or lever kits. Throw-over saddlebags 90201770 fit every year; on a 2000–2003 bike without H-D Detachables, supports 90201433 keep them off the wheel.
