The Southern California company started in 2005 when Bill Bryant and Harold McGruther got tired of choosing between helmets that looked right on a Shovelhead chopper and helmets that would actually pass a regulatory test. The result was the Gringo full-face, the Bonanza three-quarter, and the Lane Splitter — three helmet shapes that lift their lines from 1970s vintage moulds and meet modern safety standards underneath. Around the helmet line, Biltwell has built a coherent range of leather and textile gloves, riding shirts, hoodies, and casual apparel finished in colours and graphics that work next to a custom Sportster, a slammed Softail, or a stripped Dyna. Nothing is sportbike-flavoured, and nothing is factory-issue either.
