Jims pinion shafts give Harley-Davidson engine builders the precision-ground replacement shafts needed to restore crankshaft assembly integrity when the original pinion shaft has worn or been damaged beyond the tolerances required for correct crankshaft operation. The pinion shaft is the right-side crankshaft stub that carries the pinion gear driving the cam train and oil pump — wear on the journal surfaces introduces runout that manifests as vibration, cam timing variation and reduced oil pump drive efficiency.
