MCS valve collars give Harley-Davidson engine builders the precision-machined retaining components that sit between the valve spring and the cylinder head, providing a stable spring seat and ensuring even pressure distribution across the valve spring during engine operation. The valve collar is the hardened steel washer that the valve spring registers against when compressed by the pushrod and rocker arm assembly — a worn or incorrectly dimensioned collar allows the valve spring to cant, which alters the spring rate across the stroke and can cause the spring to contact the valve guide at extreme lift.
