MCS lock tabs give Harley-Davidson mechanics and builders the correct tab washers needed to prevent critical fasteners from backing off under the relentless vibration of a running V-twin engine. Lock tabs are a positive mechanical locking device — after torquing the fastener, the tab is bent up against the flat of the nut or bolt head, physically preventing rotation in either direction. They are specified by Harley-Davidson at primary, transmission and engine locations where the consequences of a loosened fastener are serious, and they must be renewed each time a fastener is removed rather than reused.
