FLTRX

Every Harley has a short factory code. It’s how parts are catalogued — get it right and the right parts follow.

VIN

Your 17-character VIN holds the model and year. We decode it in your browser — nothing is sent anywhere.

Once you know your code, see genuine OEM diagrams and aftermarket parts filtered to your exact bike.

How to find your Harley model code

  • From your VIN — the 17-character Vehicle Identification Number on the frame plate and your V5C encodes the model (positions 5–6) and year (position 10). Paste it into the VIN box above.
  • By year and model — if you know the bike by name (Street Glide, Road Glide, Fat Bob), use the dropdowns above to match it to its model code.
  • On your registration — UK V5C documents and dealer paperwork list the model designation alongside the VIN.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Harley-Davidson model code?

A model code (for example FLTRX or FXFB) is the factory designation Harley-Davidson assigns to each model. It is shorter than the marketing name — FLTRX is the Road Glide, FXFB is the Fat Bob — and it is what parts catalogues, service manuals and your VIN use to identify the bike.

Where do I find my Harley model code?

It is encoded in your 17-character VIN (positions 5 and 6 on modern models) and printed on the frame VIN plate and your registration document (V5C in the UK). You can also look it up on this page by selecting your year, family and model.

Is the model code the same as the VIN?

No. The VIN is the unique 17-character identifier for your individual motorcycle. The model code identifies the model. The model code can be read from the VIN, which is how the VIN decoder on this page works.

What model is an FLHX or an FLTRX?

FLHX is the Street Glide and FLTRX is the Road Glide — both Touring models. Use the lookup above to match any model code to its model name, year and engine.
