Lower fairings: airflow, storage and the complete installation
This film explains one Touring lower-fairing design within the wider Frame & Chassis range. It brings adjustable wind deflectors and small-item storage together, while the exact supporting parts depend on the motorcycle and equipment.
What the primed lower-fairing kit includes
The product action here is for primed kit 57100505. The film also shows its supporting engine guards, available separately in Accessories; buying this lower-fairing kit does not include those guards, fog lamps or highway pegs.
Lower fairings, airflow adjustment and the supporting guards
These lower fairings add wind and weather protection around the rider’s legs. Harley-Davidson describes development using computer airflow modelling, wind-tunnel work and riding assessments. A lever operates the wind deflectors so the rider can adjust airflow and direct engine heat away in warmer weather. The film shows the adjustment, the shape around the legs and the storage built into each side.
Each storage compartment has a push-button, damped door and space for small items such as keys, gloves or a wallet. A removable panel at the leading edge can accommodate optional LED Fog Lamps 68000453, purchased separately. Kit 57100505 supplies the pair of lower fairings, compartment lids and mounting hardware in a primed finish ready for paint. The film discusses matching factory colours, and the catalogue associates the design with the Street Glide Ultra. This particular product reference is the primed kit.
The lower fairings require the appropriate supporting engine guard. Guard 49000284 is chrome and 49000285 is black. Their shape supports the lowers and allows optional highway pegs; the guard may also help protect the motorcycle’s finish in a low-speed tip-over. It does not establish protection for the rider or passenger in a crash. The guards listed here fit the specified 2023-on CVO FLHXSE/FLTRXSE and 2024-on FLHX/FLTRX applications. Road Glide installations additionally need the appropriate fairing support kit, 47201044 or 47201045, and these guards do not fit with Heavy Breather air cleaners.
The lower-fairing kit has a broader fitment list, including specified 2025-on FLHXU and named 2026-on Street Glide and Trike applications. That does not make the two-wheel engine guards suitable for every Trike: Road Glide 3 requires guard 49000330 and two each of fasteners 2708A, 6116 and 4924. Match the lower fairings, guard and support hardware to the exact model and year. Fog lamps and highway pegs remain separate accessories.

Plan the lower fairings as a complete system
Airflow adjustment and accessible storage
The small lever operates the integrated deflectors to vary airflow around the legs and help direct engine heat away in warm conditions. Each side also has a compartment with a push-button, damped door for small items. These are the features to compare with your current setup; the film gives no measured temperature reduction or storage-volume figure.
Allow for paint and separate accessories
Kit 57100505 is supplied primed for paint, with left and right lower fairings, compartment lids and mounting hardware. A factory-colour bike in the film does not mean this reference arrives colour matched. The removable front panels allow the optional LED Fog Lamps 68000453; the lamps, supporting guards and highway pegs remain separate purchases.
Match the mounting system and reflector requirements
Check the exact guard and any Road Glide fairing-support requirement alongside the lower-fairing application. The wider fitment list for the lowers does not make the two-wheel guards suitable for every Trike. The separate radiator mesh 57300493 cannot be combined with fairing lowers.
H-D’s published US notice for recall 0638 / NHTSA 25E-023 identifies specified motorcycle, lower-fairing and/or inverted-fork combinations where front-reflector visibility is affected. Before installation, ask an authorised dealer to check applicability for your exact motorcycle, equipment and market, and completion of the reflector remedy. The product number alone does not establish that every installation is affected or that a particular motorcycle has received the remedy.
