S&S breather valves give Harley-Davidson engine builders a precision upgrade to one of the most commonly overlooked components in the Big Twin and Sportster lubrication system. The breather valve regulates crankcase pressure by allowing blowby gas to vent to atmosphere or the air cleaner while preventing oil from exiting the crankcase — a faulty or poorly designed breather allows oil mist to contaminate the air cleaner, create a blue haze at idle and deposit oil film on the underside of the bike. S&S bring their characteristic precision engineering to breather valve design, with valves calibrated to the crankcase pressure characteristics of both standard and modified Harley-Davidson engines, including those built with high-compression pistons or performance camshafts that generate increased blowby volume at high RPM.
