Sized at .002 inch oversize on the outside diameter, it provides a secure press fit for cylinder heads where the original guide bores have seen some wear. Manganese bronze is a popular choice because it is easier to work with than harder alloys, allowing for quick reaming and finishing with simple tools like an electric drill and a ball hone. It still provides excellent heat transfer and lubricity for the intake valves. These guides start with a standard reference dimension of 0.4750 inch outside diameter and a .2347 inch inside diameter before you perform the final fitment for your specific build.
