About This Product
These James Gaskets starter cover plate gaskets are made from a premium cork and rubber blend, providing an excellent seal for vintage Sportster primary covers. They are sold as a pack of ten and serve as a replacement for OEM 31461-70. These gaskets fit 1974 to 1978 XLH models equipped with Hitachi starters, as well as 1979 to 1980 Sportsters using Prestolite starters. The cork and rubber composition allows the gasket to compress and conform to slightly uneven surfaces, which is common on older cast covers, effectively preventing primary fluid from weeping out around the starter mounting area.
