About This Product
This Athena upper valve spring cover washer is a specialized cork seal for vintage Flathead engines. It is designed to fit 1939 through 1948 74-inch and 80-inch Flathead models, providing a traditional cork seal for the upper portion of the valve spring cover. This washer is a direct replacement for OEM numbers 18245-39 and 173-39A. Cork is an excellent material for these older applications, offering the right amount of compression to seal against the cast surfaces of the Flathead engine. It is a necessary part for any mechanic performing valve work or a full restoration on a classic Big Twin Flathead.
