This Athena starter motor mount gasket is an essential component for maintaining the starter system on classic Ironhead Sportsters. Constructed from 0.031-inch fiber-reinforced paper, it is designed to fit 1967 to 1980 XL Sportster models. It serves as a direct replacement for OEM part number 31488-77. When the starter motor is removed for service or replacement, installing a fresh gasket is the only way to ensure a leak-free seal against the housing. Athena’s use of reinforced paper ensures the gasket won't compress too much or tear during installation, providing a reliable barrier against oil leaks in the starter drive area. These are sold in a pack of ten.
