About This Product
For the serious engine builder working on vintage iron, these TP Developments Fat Axle hydraulic tappets are some of the best you can get. Developed specifically for high-performance applications, these tappets are machined from premium alloy steel and heat-treated for maximum durability. The Fat Axle design provides increased roll strength, ensuring they will not deform even when paired with aggressive, high-lift cams. These units have a standard 0.731-inch diameter and are a perfect fit for 1953–1964 Panheads and 1965–1984 Shovelheads using adjustable pushrods with 1/4-inch lower ball heads. Sold individually, they are a direct replacement for OEM 18522-53A. Note that the oversized axles might require minor modifications to some stock tappet blocks, but the performance gains in valvetrain stability are well worth the effort.
