About This Product
V-Twin starter housing part for 1980 through 1988 FLT Touring and FXR models. Replaces OEM 31497-79. Fits FLT, FLTC, FLHTC, FXR, FXRS, and FXRT. This component supports the starter motor and maintains its alignment to the primary. A distorted housing causes misalignment and premature wear on the starter drive and ring gear. Replace it rather than trying to straighten a damaged original.
