MCS rocker arms and shafts give Harley-Davidson engine builders the precision valve train components needed to restore correct actuation geometry and running clearance to the overhead-valve cylinder heads on Big Twin and Sportster engines. The rocker arm transfers motion from the pushrod to the valve stem tip — a worn rocker arm bore, worn roller tip or damaged shaft introduces play that affects valve lift accuracy, creates noise in the valve train and accelerates wear on the valve stem, guide and seat. MCS produce rocker arms and shafts to the dimensional tolerances specified for Harley-Davidson engine applications, with shaft diameter and rocker bore clearance controlled to deliver the oil film thickness that keeps these components running without excessive wear under sustained high-temperature operation. Shaft condition should be evaluated during any top-end rebuild — a shaft that has worn oval in its pillar bores needs replacement regardless of rocker condition. Iron City Motorcycles, an authorised Harley-Davidson dealer in Leeds, carries MCS rocker arms and shafts alongside a full engine rebuild and valve train range.
