This S&S valve spring shim is .030 inches thick and is used to precisely set the valve spring seat pressure during cylinder head assembly. Proper spring tension is vital for preventing valve float at high engine speeds and ensuring the valves seal correctly against the seats. S&S manufactures these shims to exacting thicknesses to allow engine builders to achieve the perfect valvetrain setup.
