About This Product
Andrews' undersized Big Twin cam gear (black) fits 1948–1965 Panhead and 1966–early 1977 Shovelhead engines. This crimp-on gear provides additional clearance when the backlash between cam gear and pinion gear is too tight, which typically manifests as a whining sound from the gear train. The Panhead and early Shovelhead cam gear measures approximately 70mm outer diameter, distinguishing it from the late 1977-up version. Cam gauge pins are available separately for accurate measurement before ordering. Correcting gear lash properly ensures quieter operation and reduces premature wear on both the cam and pinion gears.
