About This Product
The S&S 514 camshaft is a specialized choice for 84 to 93 inch stroker engines based on 1948 to 1965 Panheads or 1966 to 1969 early Shovelheads. It provides a .540" lift for Panheads and .514" for Shovelheads, with a power band focused between 2500 and 5000 RPM. This is where most real-world riding happens, making it a very practical performance upgrade. It is designed for engines with a compression ratio no higher than 9:1 and is notably quiet and easy on the valvetrain. We recommend using solid lifters or high-quality aftermarket hydraulic tappets, and you must perform standard clearance checks for valve spring spacing during assembly.
