These S&S Superstock crankcases are the perfect foundation for a 1948 to 1964 Panhead build using a steel primary housing. Sold as a set, these cases are cast from high-strength 356-T6 aluminum to prevent the cracking often seen in original OEM cases under high-performance loads. S&S has done the heavy lifting by installing the Timken main bearing races and cam needle bearings, and line-honing the pinion shaft race. The assembly includes cylinder studs, nickel-plated bolts, and magnetic drain plugs. Note that these use the 1955-up style Timken bearings, so they won't accept early OEM flywheels, but they offer vastly improved oil scavenging and clearance for stroker wheels up to 5 inches.
