This MCS transmission sprocket has 23 teeth. It fits late 1979 to early 1984 XL Sportster models. Swapping the front sprocket changes the gearing. A 23-tooth front balances acceleration and cruising depending on your rear sprocket size. That suits touring or town work. Inspect your old sprocket for hooked or sharpened teeth. Fit this one if the old unit is worn.
