This left-side shifter pawl is a high-quality replacement for the original Harley-Davidson part 34477-53. It is designed for use in the transmission top cover of 1952 to early 1975 Big Twin models, 1954 to 1956 KH models, and 1957 to 1971 XL Sportsters. Please note that this pawl is supplied without the spring; if your current spring is fatigued or broken, you will need to source the corresponding shifter pawl spring, OEM 34482-53, to complete the installation. Replacing a worn pawl is essential for crisp, reliable gear engagement, especially on older hand-shift or early foot-shift transmissions where mechanical precision is key to avoiding missed shifts.
