About This Product
MCS inner shifter lever shaft. Fits 1986 to 1990 4-speed XL Sportster models. Replaces OEM 34628-86. The shaft carries the splines that mate to the shift arm. Constant torque and road grime wear them down. The splines strip or the shaft bends. Fit this replacement during a transmission overhaul or shift linkage repair. It restores the tight feel at the lever. Check the shift arm bore for damage before you fit the new shaft. Torque the pinch bolt to spec.
