This 9-tooth starter gear from MCS is a direct replacement for OEM 31342-93. It is specific to 1993 models, which used this particular tooth count before the transition in later years. Replacing a worn starter gear is a lot cheaper than replacing the whole starter motor or the ring gear on the clutch basket. This part is built to withstand the high torque required to turn over a large V-twin engine, ensuring reliable starting every time you thumb the button.
