About This Product
This MCS advance unit and point plate assembly takes the standard ignition setup a step further by using needle bearings for the breaker weight pivots. This design choice ensures much smoother movement and more consistent timing advance compared to standard bushings. It is a complete assembly ready for a points-style ignition setup, making it an ideal stock replacement for 1970 to 1978 models. It also works perfectly for later models undergoing a points conversion or for electronic ignitions that still rely on a mechanical advance unit. Fitment covers 1970 to 1999 Big Twins, excluding Twin Cam engines, as well as 1971 to 2003 XL Sportsters. If you are looking for a more durable and precise mechanical advance for your classic Harley, this needle-bearing version is a significant reliability upgrade.
