The Compu-Fire GEN3 starter is a powerhouse designed for high-compression Sportster builds. Despite delivering a massive 2.0kW of cranking power—well above the stock 1.4kW—it actually draws about half the current of a regular starter thanks to its high-energy Neodymium magnets and efficient windings. The 6:1 planetary gear reduction provides the mechanical advantage needed to turn over stubborn, high-compression motors with ease. This chrome-finished unit fits 1981 to 2022 Sportsters, 1994 to 2008 Buell models (excluding the 1125R), and 2008 to 2012 XR1200 models. Keep in mind that to get the full 2.0kW output, you will want to ensure your battery is in top condition to supply the necessary amperage for those heavy-duty starts.
