For those late 1984 to 1985 XL Sportster builds, setting the transmission end play correctly is a job you do not want to rush. This .080-inch thick thrust washer is designed for the left side of the countershaft 1st gear. It is a reliable replacement for OEM numbers 35848-84 and 38848-84. Because these are sold as a set of five, you can keep your shop stocked for multiple gearboxes. Using the correct thickness shim ensures that your gears are properly spaced, reducing friction and noise while extending the life of your transmission.
