MCS primary chain adjuster kit replaces OEM part number 39975-86. It fits 1986 to 1990 XL Sportster models. This kit is for late 1980s Sportsters. It is sold as a complete kit. A worn adjuster causes excessive chain slap and poor shifting. Fitting this kit restores correct tension. That protects the primary chain and both sprockets from unnecessary wear and tear.
