About This Product
BDL starter housing for 3-inch electric start open drives on Shovelhead models. This replaces the stock part on 1970 through 1978 Shovelheads fitted with the BDL 3-inch open belt drive system. It mounts the starter motor and locates the pinion in line with the ring gear. A warped housing causes starter drag and ring gear chatter, so check the mounting faces for distortion and the threads for pull-out before you torque it down.
