About This Product
MCS starter shaft for 1987 to 1988 Softail models only. Those two years carry unique requirements and this is the direct replacement. A worn shaft causes rough engagement and chatter. This part replaces OEM 31482-86 and restores clean meshing with the ring gear. Fit it and the starter will engage properly. Check the starter drive clutch while you have the primary open.
