About This Product
The compensating sprocket is a vital part of the primary drive, absorbing the pulses of the V-twin engine to protect the transmission. This MCS compensating sprocket spring is a direct replacement for OEM 40302-55A. It fits a wide range of vintage machines, including 1955 to early 1970 Big Twins and 1957 to early 1976 XL Sportsters. Over decades of use, these springs can lose their tension, leading to a noisy primary or excessive vibration. Installing a fresh spring restores the dampening effect of the compensator, smoothing out the power delivery and extending the life of your drivetrain components.
