About This Product
This upgraded primary chain tensioner kit is a versatile manual adjustment solution for a wide range of Big Twins. While it was originally designed as an improved kit for 1985 to 2000 5-speed Big Twin models, it is also engineered to retrofit back to earlier 1965 to 1984 4-speed and 5-speed Big Twin models. Manual adjustment allows the mechanic to set the tension exactly to spec, avoiding the issues sometimes associated with automatic adjusters. It is built to withstand the constant friction of the primary chain and provides a stable platform for smooth power delivery. This kit is sold as a kit and naturally replaces OEM 540021, making it a staple for any workshop servicing classic Evolution or Shovelhead drivetrains.
