This Wiseco piston kit is the perfect solution for 1972 to 1985 XL1000 Sportster owners looking for maximum reliability and a performance edge. By bumping the compression ratio to 10:1, these forged pistons help your 1000cc Ironhead breathe new life. This kit is oversized by .040 inches, providing a final option for cylinders that require a deeper bore. The package is comprehensive, featuring forged pistons, wristpins, Hastings rings, and circlips. While these are a perfect fit for stock XL cylinder heads, they will not fit XR-style heads. As a mechanic, I always recommend Wiseco for these older Sportsters because the forged construction handles the increased heat and pressure of a high-compression setup much better than cast alternatives.
