This clutch outer ramp is a critical component for the mechanical clutch release system on 1971 to 1984 XL Sportster models. It works in conjunction with the inner ramp to translate the pull of the clutch cable into the movement needed to disengage the clutch plates. This part is a direct replacement for OEM part number 37203-71A and is also listed under part number 905175. Over time, these ramps can wear or develop grooves that lead to a heavy or inconsistent lever feel.
